BCCI To Give Hike In Match Fees To Mithali Raj & Co, Cash Awards To Indian Women Cricketers
The whole country was startled watching Indian women bagging some robust runs and taking back to back wickets in the World Cup finals against England.
Despite losing the match by mere 9 runs, everyone admired the girls for their priceless efforts during the vital match. Netizens went congratulating the squad, Mithali Raj and Co received no less virtual accolades. Post the intriguing performance, the authorities went making some proposals regarding the hike in both match fees and cash awards.
As of now, according to the previously proposed values, it is believed that the Indian women’s cricket team were promised a cash reward of Rs 50 lakh each for the whole 15 members team. In addition to that, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) has decided Rs 25 lakh for the support staff.
A state unit representative from west zone, who will be present at the SGM, has said, “I will propose that the cash award should be hiked to Rs 60 lakh for the players and Rs 30 lakh for the support staff. The girls have made us proud and they should reward adequately. I think no one should have any objection if they are being paid more.”
When asked about the status of the proposal, the official has said that the CoA has already taken the decision and is waiting for the confirmation from the general body.
Speaking regarding the Semifinals, the source said, “If one can recall after the India vs Australia series, played earlier this year ended, the CoA had announced a cash award of Rs 50 lakh for the Indian men’s team. The general body then decided to increase it to Rs 1 crore per player.”
On the other hand, BCCI acting president CK Khanna has expressed his desire to raise the issue of hike in match fees for women cricketers. “The women cricketers should have a hike in match fees. I will raise the issue at an appropriate forum,” said Khanna.
