Delhi produced Indian opening batsmen Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan are in the news today after IPL 10 and ahead of ICC Champions Trophy. Both the openers had enjoyed successful outings in the recently wrapped Indian Premier League.

We all know that fans and several cricket greats wanted Gautam Gambhir to get picked in India’s team for Champions Trophy, but it was Shikhar Dhawan who bagged a spot in the 15-man squad.

Apart from their personal performances are concerned, both the dashing openers gave a true example of the spirit of cricket with their recent Twitter conversation.

It all started when Shikhar Dhawan congratulated KKR skipper for winning the ‘Stylish Player of the Season’ at the conclusion of the IPL. Hence, Dhawan took to Twitter to wish Gambhir on winning the award.

Gambhir was quick enough to reply back wishing his fellow Delhi batsman well for the ICC mega tournament in England.

This looked as a good sign from Gambhir even though he was not selected to the ICC CT 2017. Team India will get started Champions Trophy campaign underway against Pakistan on June 4, after playing two warm-up games against New Zealand and Bangladesh on May 28 and 30, respectively.

The eighth edition of the tournament sees an increase of USD 500,000 in prize money from the 2013 edition, which too was played at the three venues being used this time — Cardiff Wales Stadium, Edgbaston and The Oval.
