Latest Sensation Harmanpreet Kaur Reveals The Secret Behind Her Hard-Hitting Skills

In every sport, aggression plays a key role in each individual or player. It is one of the sensitive sides of one that results in any way either positive or negative. Always being aggressive isn’t good for anyone. One of the names who had done the rounds in the last two weeks is surely Harmanpreet Kaur of the Indian Women’s cricket team.

Aggression comes naturally to Harmanpreet Kaur. The way she bats and hits the ball over the boundary rope mesmerizes everyone. She attributes her six-hitting prowess to playing with men in the formative days of her career.

However, hitting huge sixes like Harmanpreet is rare in Women’s cricket especially in the Indian team. Harmanpreet Reveals The Secret Behind Her Six-Hitting Skills:

She was recently asked about the secret behind her hard-hitting ability and attributed playing with bigger boys in her childhood.

The 28-year-old reckoned that playing with boys during formative stages of her cricketing career had helped gain the confidence of playing big shots. “I like to bat in that way since childhood, I have learned to play that way and played cricket with boys, who used to hit sixes and I liked hitting sixes,” she told.

At one point, India was cruising with opener Punam Raut and Harmanpreet in complete control. But panic crept in and India went onto lose their second World Cup final. “In the final (that India lost to England), we needed runs and I was going for runs, I played the shot thinking it will be fully covered, but it went into the fielder’s hand. I was very disappointed,” added Harmanpreet.

Harmanpreet’s 171 vs Australia in the World Cup semifinal was compared to Kapil Dev. The 28-year-old’s knock was compared to Kapil Dev’s iconic innings against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup. The batting star said the memorable innings was not any different to her usual style of play as she likes to play an aggressive brand of cricket since childhood.

“I have played knocks like that in domestic cricket, I got a chance in international but never made a long score. That match was telecast and people saw it, we had the hunger to win that match and I was happy that I played that knock when the team needed and the team won,” Harmanpreet said.

“It was not at all difficult in terms of fitness, as I like fitness and like to play football. There were injuries, but thanks to physio, I did alright,” she added.
