Mahela Jayawardene Trolls A Sri Lanka Fan For Comparing Sri Lankan And Indian Cricket Teams

No doubt, Twitter is one of the best social media platforms that entertains everyone in the world. Especially, celebrities, politicians and public figures use Twitter for many purposes. It is almost a second home for them and the best part about is that the fans have the privilege to interact with their favorite celebrities.

Mahela Jayawardena might have hung up his boot but has been following Sri Lankan from close quarters. Since his retirement, Mahela has also been an active user of social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter to express his views on the current affairs of all sports especially cricket.

One such conversation took place recently when Sri Lankan legendary cricketers Mahela Jayawardene got involved with a fan. Recently he had trolled a Sri Lankan fan for comparing Sri Lanka Team with Indian Team.

An ardent Sri Lankan cricket fan, post the announcement of the four-team inter-provincial tournament, asked Jayawardena for the reason why their team cannot play with 9 teams given the fact that India plays with 20 teams in the Ranji trophy.

“In India, around 20 teams are playing for Ranji trophy. And many best players were found from that. So why can’t we play with 9 teams?” questioned a fan named T.N.T.

Jayawardene soon lashed out and claimed that one cannot compare Sri Lankan Cricket and Indian Cricket. He compared the population of the two countries and wrote, “1 billion vs 22 million. I am sure you are good at maths? How many teams should we have?”

Mahela Jayawardene, in a career spanning 17 years, etched his name as one of Sri Lanka’s finest batsmen and one of their most inspirational captains. But not many are aware that there’s a witty side to Jayawardene. However, India already won the Test series VS Sri Lanka 3-0 and looking to continue it in the limited-overs format.

Mahela Jayawardena’s upcoming assignment is in the Bangladesh Premier League where he would mentor the Khulna Titans.
