Mohammad Shami’s Unbelievable Batting Leaves Virat Kohli Restless In The 1st Test Against Sri Lanka

In the ongoing Test match between India and Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, rain played the most part of the match so far. It took almost three days to complete the first innings after several stoppages. However, Sri Lankans started off with a bang by restricting the hosts for just 172 runs in the first innings.

Earlier, Cheteshwar Pujara made a gritty 52 before India were bowled out for 172. Wriddhiman Saha (29) and Ravindra Jadeja (22) shared a 48-run sixth-wicket stand on a green Eden Gardens wicket while number-10 Mohammed Shami chipped in with a 22-ball 24.

Finally, the visitors stepped out to bat after India was bundled for 172 with the top-order collapsing except Pujara’s fifty. Sri Lanka reached 165 for four at stumps at the end of Day-3. Dinesh Chandimal (13) and Niroshan Dickwella (14) were unbeaten at the crease with Sri Lanka trailing by seven runs.

For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav took two wickets apiece to keep the hosts in the hunt. Despite scoring fewer runs, there was one moment where the Indian fans could enjoy watching and it was Mohammad Shami’s batting and Virat Kohli’s celebrations.

The Indian tail wagged, leaving captain Virat Kohli restless in the stands

After the departure of mercurial Cheteshwar Pujara, who made a classic Test fifty, India was tottering at 79/6 inside the 38th over. Wriddhiman Saha and Ravindra Jadeja pushed little further, then Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami scored crucial runs to help India reach 172.

While Shami was batting, Kohli became the center of attention on the sidelines, making animated reactions for every show the tail-ender played. In fact, Shami hit three fours, and it could have been four. But one of his shots failed to reach the rope. And it forced Kohli to say some words, murmur actually.
