MS Dhoni Fan Runs Out On Field To Touch His Feet During India vs Sri Lanka ODI

India’s opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan’s brilliant, unbeaten 100 helped India to its eighth consecutive bilateral series win at home since June 2016. The Rohit Sharma-led team scored an emphatic, eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI to clinch the three-match series 2-1.

Team India’s excellent all-around performance ensured that Sri Lanka’s dismal record of never winning a ODI series in India remains intact. Earlier, in the first ODI, the visitors slammed the hosts like never before and restricted them for just 112 runs in Dharamsala.

However, they defended the target very easily and took the lead 1-0 in the ODI series. Unfortunately, it was the first ODI for Rohit Sharma as the captain in the absence of Virat Kohli and he was disappointed with his and team’s performance.

But the hosts came back hard in the second ODI and the skipper slammed an unprecedented third double century in ODIs to help India fight back from a deflating damage in the first ODI. In reply to India’s 392/4, the visitors could only muster 251 which was made possible by Angelo Mathew’s obstinacy as he hit his second ODI ton against India in India.

Apart from Rohit’s master class, young Shreyas Iyer‘s impressive 88 and Mathew’s fighting effort, there was another notable moment that took place in the match. During Sri Lanka’s chase, a fan from the crowd came running in on the ground, breaking all security measure and ran directly towards former Indian captain MS Dhoni who was keeping the wickets.

The man was carrying a card with the number ‘6’, who was clearly a passionate fan of Dhoni, then touched his feet, despite Dhoni stopping him from doing so, before a security personnel took him out of the ground.

Earlier, Dhoni was seen racing with teammate Hardik Pandya in a 100-meter sprint and the aging Dhoni only seems to be fitter as the youngsters if not more than them as he made Pandya run for his money.

This isn’t the first time that a fan raced his way on to the ground just to touch Dhoni’s feet. Earlier there have been instances where individuals have somehow managed to breach past the security arrangements to either greet of touch the wicketkeeper-batsman’s feet.
