MS Dhoni Leaves Rohit Sharma Heartbroken, Makes Mistake With DRS
Team India has a formidable ODI record against the Sri Lankans, who are being led by the veteran all-rounder Thisara Perera. Whereas, Rohit Sharma gets an opportunity to present his captaincy skills in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
When it comes to sensibility and aggression, MS Dhoni is known to be a great and rare combination. The former Indian captain, current batsman, and wicketkeeper have proved to be a savior of the team in several difficult situations. His presence of mind, quickness in taking action is something not everyone in the game of cricket possesses.
We all have seen him doing miracles on the field and several talents for which every player of the team really respects him a lot. Among all the talents and qualities, Dhoni has that one special talent which he always judges the wicket very accurately keeping behind the wickets.
He has always been spot on with the DRS (Decision Review System) and that’s the reason everyone looks up to him before going for the review. Though he relinquished the captaincy in January, he still remains India’s decision maker in the field.
One of the situations was witnessed on Sunday during the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka. During Sri Lankan innings, Rohit Sharma, who is standing in for Virat Kohli as the captain needed Dhoni’s advice in the 14th over in deciding what to do with an LBW shout off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav.
Samarawickrama, going for a flick, missed the ball, and it hit him on the front foot, below the roll. It seemed out, then captain Rohit pleaded to Dhoni, with his longing eyes, to go for the review. But a ‘thinking’ Dhoni took some time and walked towards Rohit, who’s fielding at the first slip, and advised not to take the review.
Dhoni, who is known as the walking DRS, this time missed the chance and opted not to take the review. As the replays showed, the ball was hitting the target, and the umpire was wrong not to give it out.

It was one rare jinx from an ever reliable Dhoni. Well, this goes on to prove the saying, “To Err is Human”.
Later, opener Shikhar Dhawan scored his 12th ODI hundred to chase down the 216-run target and gave Rohit his first series win as a captain. In the process, India also registered their eighth successive ODI series win.
