It is known that organizers of PSL are still struggling to bring interest in the tournament where all the games are being played before the empty stands.
The third season of PSL kicked off recently in UAE amid a lot of buzz, yet failed to attract crowds despite mixing up the top Pakistani players with the top international cricketers.
The inauguration ceremony included performances from Pakistani music icon Ali Zafar, sufi singer Abida Parveen and US rapper Jason Derulo.
The event also featured film starts Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, and Fawad Khan. They all have made their appearances in the PSL, but still could not bring the fans to the stadium for the matches.
One of the major reasons analyzed is the lack of support from fans since the matches are being played away from Pakistan in the UAE, an adopted venue where all Pakistan in-home matches are being played.
Ever since the terrorist attack in Lahore, Pakistan on Sri Lankan cricket team in the year 2009, except Zimbabwe, no other country played a match in Pakistan. All the matches that are supposed to happen in Pakistan are happening in UAE.
The organizers of PSL conducted the final match in Lahore and later World XI also played a three-match T20 series against Pakistan, but all these couldn’t bring fans to the stadiums.
However, for this season in PSL, three matches between March 20 and march 25 will be played at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore. This schedule includes semi-finals and the final match will be played in National Stadium at Karachi.
