For a cricket-obsessed country like India, people go crazy for the game. Cricket is the only game in India which is played widely across the country. Fans don’t get afraid of doing anything to meet their cricket player.

In a league between Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils, at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, the match was stopped for a while when an enthusiastic spectator entered the field to take Suresh Raina’s autograph.

The incident took place during the second innings of the match. Raina was busy in the field, managing his troops, the fan leaped through the fences, evaded security guards, and managed to reach Raina, with a pen and his match ticket in either hand.

It happened in the fourth over, just after Karun Nair had slammed Pradeep Sangwan over the covers for a boundary. Before Sangwan could bowl the next delivery, there was an exciting cheer for the fans, as Rinku, the man who approached Raina wearing an orange jersey that had ‘Raina’ and ‘3’ written behind, zeroed in on the India batsman.

By the time security personnel’s reached to escort him out of the ground, the fan touched Raina’s feet and requested Raina to give his autograph. However, the fan succeeded in shaking hands with his favorite cricketer and agreed to leave the field on being convinced by Raina.

“I wanted to congratulate him for his superb fielding at slips, which led to the departure of Rishabh Pant,” said Rinku, the fan.

Despite Aaron Finch’s 69 off 39 balls took Gujarat to a total of 195/5, Delhi Daredevils defeated the Gujarat Lions at the end of the match.
