Ravichandran Ashwin Reaction After Chennai Super Kings Snubbed Him In The IPL Auction 2018
The eight franchises participating in the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are currently participating the auction at Bangalore. Earlier, the franchises retained a few players from their previous teams and some of them were expected though some were surprising.
In the auction today, an unexpected pick happened and it is Chennai boy Ravichandran Ashwin. Guess what, he made his way to the Kings XI Punjab, it was an eerie moment for all the fans back in Chennai, with Chennai Super Kings bagged Harbhajan Singh in a cross-state transfer.
Earlier, MS Dhoni had stressed in an interview saying that CSK won’t let Ashwin go out of the team, but at the last moment, CSK franchise left him and it is Kings XI Punjab who bagged him for a whopping amount of 7.6 crores.
Earlier, Ashwin was an integral part of CSK’s success before it got banned. He was the one go-to persons for skipper MS Dhoni whenever he needed to break a crucial partnership. Dhoni and CSK management were confident on getting Ashwin and would go all out to get him at all costs. However, it was a different story in the auctions.
CSK bid for Ashwin till the mark of four crores and left him. It also seemed that they were least interested in him. After some intense bidding war, Ashwin was sold to the Kings XI Punjab at 7.6 crores. However, KXIP were very happy to rope Ashwin in their squad. They were aggressive on buying Ashwin and looked to get him at all cost.
Ashwin is still India’s No 1 spinner in Test cricket; however, he lost his place in shorter formats to Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. However, Ashwin seemed delighted on shifting his base as he took to Twitter to share his happiness. He said that the auction is always like a house of casino. Further, he thanked CSK for all the great memories.
The auction is always a house of casino, I am happy that @lionsdenkxip will be my new home and thank you so much @ChennaiIPL for all the great memories. #IPLAuction,” Ashwin tweeted.
