The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that Shikhar Dhawan will be out for the remainder of the ICC World Cup 2019 with his injury (fractured left thumb).

Dhawan sustained the injury when India was facing Australia in the second match of the ICC World Cup 2019 on June 9, 2019.

After the news broke out, Shikhar Dhawan confirmed the news by himself on Twitter by posting a video.

In the video, Dhawan said, “I feel emotional to announce that I will no longer be a part of #CWC19. Unfortunately, the thumb won’t recover on time. But the show must go on.. I’m grateful for all the love & support from my team mates, cricket lovers & our entire nation. Jai Hind!??”

The announcement was made by Sunil Subramanian, the manager of team India, he said, “Shikhar has a fracture at the base of his first metacarpal on his left hand.”

Sunil added, “Following several specialist opinions, he will remain in a cast until mid-July, which rules him out of the ICC World Cup 2019.”

Rishabh Pant is expected to replace Shikar Dhawan in the remainder of the ICC World Cup 2019.
