Both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils are sailing the same boat one behind the other. After a blazing start to the IPL, defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad looked to have lost their way with successive losses before they eked out a narrow win against Punjab. Now SRH is up against the Delhi Daredevils, a side that has blown hot and cold, losing a nail-biter to the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last encounter.

While the youngsters have been up to the mark with sensational performances with the bat (Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant), the bowling looked weak at important stages of the match for DD. Whereas, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and David Warner continue to be the two columns of the SRH, donning the Purple and Orange cap respectively. David Warner led from the front in almost all the games and he is definitely the most bankable player for SRH. Dhawan also seemed to find some touch this season but there is a lot to show out. Moises Henriques would be crucial to help them sustain the middle overs. Yuvraj and Hooda can provide the momentum in the final stages with their charismatic stroke play.

The bowling is carried by ever-reliable Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has to his assistance the likes of Ashish Nehra and Mustafizur Rahman. There is no out and out pace in the team, but it hardly matters for SRH, who are content with fielding the medium pacers along with Rashid Khan, who has been the find of the season.

Batting– David Warner has been in top form with the bat, clinching the orange cap in the process. His form at the top bodes well for the team, as highlighted by the 70 he made on a sluggish pitch in the last game. While Dhawan has looked sedate, Yuvraj Singh has blown hot and cold throughout. Naman Ojha showed what he is capable of in the final few overs with his lusty blows, having Deepak Hooda for the company. Overall Warner and Henriques hold the key for SRH today.

Bowling– On the contrary, the Sunrisers bowling attack is running like a well-oiled machine, spearheaded by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s dream form. Rashid Khan’s inclusion has been a masterstroke, while the likes of Ashish Nehra and Mustafizur Rahman are finding it difficult to make it into the team. Siddharth Kaul looked good in the pressure times against KXIP. Sran didn’t quite find the rhythm and he might well make way for Nehra. Nabi proved to be handy with the ball and SRH would be itching to continue him over the Fizz. It’s a real treat to watch Rashid & Nabi operating for SRH, more so because they are from an associate nation and are delivering on the big stage with no pressure whatsoever.

Sam Billings has made scores of 25, 24, 55 & 21 at the top of the order, and Delhi Daredevils will hope the Englishman can not only get the team off to yet another good start but also convert it to a big one. Rishabh Pant came into the tournament with a reputation, and he has enhanced it further with his four knocks this season; he has batted freely and made a contribution every time he has gone out to bat. The 19-year old has scores of 57, 31, 15 and 38.

The Zaheer Khan led side clearly thinks with the experience they have in the bowling attack, they are better suited to defending totals. If the track plays slow like it did on Monday night, the two leggies Amit Mishra and Rashid Khan could be a handful.

Batting- The Daredevils’ batsmen haven’t exactly performed as a unit, with one batsman hogging the limelight in each of the innings. With Shreyas Iyer’s return, the batting looks more assured, although there are increased calls to promote Rishabh Pant up the order so that he has more deliveries to play with.

Bowling- Unlike their batting, the Delhi Daredevils bowling has a healthy mix of pace and guile, with speedsters like Pat Cummins sharing the ball with a crafty Zaheer Khan and Chris Morris. Amit Mishra can always be banked upon in the middle overs.It will be a contest between the Sunrisers’ batting and Delhi’s bowling attack.
