[WATCH VIDEO] Skipper Virat Kohli Gives A ‘Butt-Kick’ Welcome To Debutant Shardul Thakur Even Before The Match

Shardul Thakur, the 25-Year-Old Maharashtrian made his ODI debut in the earlier India Vs Sri Lanka’s fourth match of the series. The player has proved himself in the first match, the stats he bagged itself is all set to believe that he’s worth it.

For any debutant, the start Shardul had is definitely a decent one as he managed to take a wicket in the very second over that he bowled on the day, he got rid of Sri Lankan opener Niroshan Dickwella in the third over of the match then followed it up with some economical bowling thereafter.

Finishing with figures of 1/26 in the 7 overs that he bowled on the day. This might promise us to believe that if this goes on, there’s no doubt in assuming a greater success to him.

Amidst this, he is somehow criticized on the Internet for donning jersey No. 10, as people believe that it is not just a number, an emotion. Over the years, legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar wore the jersey number 10, and hence the jersey number has attained an iconic stature in Indian cricket.

Well, other than that, there’s another thing that is topping the news today, this 25-year old player who became the 218th player to represent India in ODIs is seen receiving his Indian cap from head coach Ravi Shastri. Shardul’s team-mates, including skipper Virat Kohli, were present at the time Shastri presented the cap to him.

The special moment was captured on the camera and the video was shared on BCCI.tv. Interestingly, if you watch the video, you will see one of his team mate kicking the debutant. The prankster was none other than the skipper himself.

However, this was not the first time when Kohli has done something like this. Previously, during a Test match, Kohli caught spinner Jayant Yadav off-guard, and it was quite an embarrassing for the latter.

As of now, it is believed that Shardul is retained and will play the following two ODIs in Bleed Blue.
