Indian Wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel made his comeback to Test cricket after a long break. He made sure that he did not disappoint on his return by taking few catches and stumps off. He was also promoted up the order and opened the batting for India in the first innings.

After restricting the visitors to 282 in their first innings, team India looked in firm control while batting though Murali Vijay was dismissed early. Parthiv was good and played some beautiful shots in his comeback that ended on 42 runs.

During the 21st over, Ben Stokes bowled a ball that rose up to Parthiv Patel and Parthiv tried to tuck it down to square leg. But he lost control of the willow itself and dropped his bat down. The non-strikers end Cheteshwar Pujara started for a run as Parthiv was unaware what happened.

He was quick to realize that Pujara was off for a single. He bent down to pick up his bat but dropped it yet again and decided to run without the bat and managed to complete the run. The Indian dressing room found it to be quite funny as Team India head coach Anil Kumble, in particular, was seen smiling about the incident.
