2 Military Helicopters And 6 Boats Sent To Rescue Over 700 Passengers Stuck Inside Train Near Mumbai

The National Disaster Response Force sent out 2 military helicopters and 6 boats to rescue 700 people that are stranded in a passenger train, that is sitting still 60 kilometers away from Mumbai due to heavy rain.

Officials said that nearly 700 passengers are currently stuck at the Mumbai-Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Express inside the train near Vangani, Thane.

The passengers have been stuck inside the train since last night.

Videos recorded by passengers were shared on social media, and have been asking for help as water levels are rising.

Passengers said that no one in the train drank water and ate food for the past 15 hours and there is no way that they can leave the train.

Authorities said that there are 5 to 6 feet of water standing still around the train.

Eknath Gaikwad, a minister from Maharashtra, said that 2 military helicopters have been sent to the area and 6 rubber boats along with 6 teams of the NDRF have been deployed to the area.

As we write this article, over 200 passengers have been rescued from the train.
