40 People Confirmed Dead And 80 Injured In Air Strike At Tripoli Migrant Detention Centre

Officials have confirmed that at least 40 people have been killed in an air raid at the Tripoli Migrant Detention Center for refugees and migrants.

Malel Mersek, the official spokesman of the State Emergency Medical Services, confirmed that 80 people have been injured in the Air Raid Attack on Tuesday evening.

The air raid hit the detention center which is located near a military camp.

Authorities are blaming Khalifa Haftar, the General of the Libyan Renegade Forces. The group has been fighting to capture Tripoli for the past 3 months.

The country has been full of violence and division tensions have been all over since Muammar Gaddafi was killed in 2011, Gaddafi was a long time ruler of the country.

Osama Ali, a spokesman of the emergency services, said that 120 migrants were inside the hangar when the air raid happened.

Ali added that more people may have been killed because the death toll is still an “a preliminary assessment”.

Doctor Khalid Bin Attia, an emergency respondent of the attack, said that people were everywhere when they reached the hangar.

He added, “The camp was destroyed, people are crying, there is psychological trauma. It was horrible.”
