82-Year-Old Cuban Woman Wears Full-Body Cardboard Shield To Keep Coronavirus Away
A creative 82-year-old woman from Cuba created a cardboard shield that helps her keep the coronavirus away from her.
Feridia Rojas, the 82-year-old woman, who is from Havana, Cuba, decided to build and wear the shield herself to protect herself from the deadly disease.
She does this because she understands that the coronavirus is deadly when it infects elderly patients.
On her box is a message that she wrote by herself, the message says:
I am at home, what about you?
The 82-year-old woman, whose daughters live in the United States of America, said that she has no one that could help her do her errands, which led her to come up with the amazing shield.
Rojas said:
I was worried about the asymptomatic cases who could cough just as I passed. So I thought: I’ll do a little house with a cardboard box and wear it.
Rojas, who is a retired nurse in Cuba, got the box from a pharmacy that is located in Palatino, which is her neighborhood, and cut holes in it so she could get her arms out.
Not only that, but she also cut a window for her face and added plastic on it so she could see where she’s headed to.
On top, she glued cake boxes on it so that she could make the box look like a house that has a roof.
Zayda Echemendia, a neighbor, said that Rojas is a very creative person.
Rojas, who is a former nurse, is also helping locals and neighbors when it comes to injections at their houses.
The outbreak of Cuba is under control, however, Rojas said that her coronavirus shield box helps her have relief and protection.
She explained:
In the midst of this pandemic, this stress and anxiety all the time, my little home makes people laugh.
