Alligator seen swimming in Texas with a Knife in its head
Residents of the Orchard Lakes Estates in Sugar Land, Texas, were shocked when they saw an alligator that had a knife embedded in its head near his eye.
The American alligator lives in swamps, rivers, and lakes.
Earlier this week, Erin Weaver saw a gator swimming near her house in Houston and saw that it needed help.
During an interview with CNN, Erin said, “It looked like a steak knife that was sticking out of his head.”
Erin added that she has been living in the area of 6 years and said that she has never seen a gator attack someone or act aggressively.
She is still not sure why someone decided to embed a knife on the skull of a gator.
She said, “I feel that somebody did this on purpose.”
Erin continued, “I want to get help for this alligator. I don’t want to see an alligator swimming around with a knife in its head and suffering.”
A wildlife agency from Texas will see the alligator next week.
Alligators are one of the most resilient species in the open wild, the skins of gators are covered in osteoderms or bony plates that are somewhat similar to the shell of a turtle. Its skin basically acts like armor.
During an interview with KRTK, Chris Bishop, an attendant of the Brazos Bend State Park, said that the gator is not in pain and added that it has the capability of living with the blade for several years.
But this did not help in any way.
Jennifer Griffin, a resident of the area, is still worried about the health of the gator.
She said, “I’m horrified that someone would ever do anything like that to an animal – there’s no cause for it. I wanted to help him, but you know he is a wild animal. Me by myself, I didn’t want to do anything.”
