Auto Driver In India Drove Onto A Railway Platform So He Could Help A Woman In Labor
An auto driver in Mumbai was arrested for driving his auto-rickshaw into the Virar Railway Station Platform so he could help a woman who was in labor.

34-year-old Sagar Kamlakar Gawad was arrested by the police for his actions, he is a resident of the Dongarpada in Virar, Mumbai.
Sagar was arrested under the Railway Act sections 154 (rash traveling) and 159 (disobedience of drivers).
According to the police, the unusual incident happened on August 4, 2019, when a woman who was 7 months into pregnancy went into premature labor.
The woman was traveling with his husband.
When the husband saw his wife in pain, the husband “rushed out of the compartment to ask for help. He found Gawad, whose auto was parked in the space allotted by Western Railway (WR) right next to platform number two.”
The husband also “urged Gawad to help him, following which, he brought his autorickshaw on the platform and rode towards Sanjeevani Hospital in Virar.”
According to Praveen Kumar Yadav, the RPF of Virar, the woman delivered a premature baby in a hospital in the area.
The Railway Protection Force arrested Gawad, the auto-driver, for not following the rules of the railway station.
Yadav added, “Even though Gawad’s intentions were good, he has violated the rules. Driving on the platform could have injured commuters.”
