Bidder agrees to pay $4,567,888 USD to have a private lunch with Warren Buffet

An anonymous bidder agrees to pay $4,567,888 to have a private lunch with the Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Warrant Buffet, the record-breaking pay happened at an annual charity auction.

The winning bid was submitted during a 5-day auction on eBay.

This year’s pay is higher than the previous record, which was $3,456,789.

The proceeds will go to the Glide Foundation, a charity that serves the homeless, the poor, and those who are battling drug abuse.

In 20 annual auctions, Warren Buffet, who is now 88-years-old, has managed to raise nearly $35 million USD.

Susan, the first wife of Warrant Buffet, who passed away in 2004, introduced him to the Glide Foundation.

Karen Hanrahan, the president of the Glide Foundation, said, “Mr. Buffett is thrilled. We just spoke to him.”

Karen added, “Mr. Buffett is committed to continuing the auction as long as he’s able. He has been a thought partner in thinking through Glide’s future, and how to set it up for the next 50 years.”

The person who won the bid is allowed to bring 7 friends with him so they can have lunch with Warren Buffet at the Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse in Manhattan.

Mr. Buffet will discuss anything with the bidder and his friends but says he will not talk about his next investments.

In the 2019 auction, 18 bids came from 5 bidders.

The money will go towards providing 2000 free meals every day, shelter, HIV and Hepatitis C tests, job training, and day care for children and after-school programs for kids.

Karen said, “What it means to us as an organization, It’s huge!”

She added, “It’s going to help many many thousands of people in this city.”
