Bride Nurse Driving Back Home Stops Vehicle To Care For Car Crash Victim While Wearing Wedding Dress

A nurse that was coming from her own wedding stopped their vehicle after witnessing a car crash and took care of the victim while wearing a wedding dress.

Not all heroes wear capes, some of them wear wedding dresses.

22-year-old Rachel Taylor and 23-year-old Calvin, her husband, were driving home from their wedding on June 21, 2020, when they saw a car run into 2 other vehicles, which had already crashed.

The newlywed couple realized that a woman had been standing between the cars when the third vehicle crashed into them.

The incident happened in South Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Upon realizing things were bad, Rachel leaped into action.

Tamara Peterson, the injured woman, was at the scene because her son was in one of the first cars that crashed.

While wearing her wedding dress, Rachel ran over to the woman and helped others carry her to the side of the road, where she kept her calm until the emergency services arrived.

The 22-year-old bride nurse kept the woman calm while reassuring that she would be okay, thanks to the techniques that she learned in a nursing school at the Bethel University, where she reportedly worked many many hours with women that are going in labor.

During an interview with Pioneer Press, Rachel said:

I saw a couple of people dragging a woman over to the side of the road. I could see a gash in her right leg. I think I saw her bone in it. I just talked to her. I said, “You’re so strong. You’re so brave. I’m so proud of you”.

When the paramedics arrived, Rachel explained to Tamara what was happening and assured that she would be okay.

Recalling the incident, Tamara, the injured woman, said:

She was awesome and helped save my life by keeping me focused and calm. She certainly is a gifted angel and chose the right career path.

An image of the incident was taken by Calvin, the husband of Rachel, and he shared it on social media, where he called her “My rockstar of a bride”.

On our way back to our home after an amazing and beautiful wedding day, literally blocks from our new home, we saw a large SUV crash into another accident involving three other vehicles. As we pulled over, we saw people pulling a woman from between two cars with a gash in her leg that went down to her femur. My rockstar of a bride gets out of the car, wedding dress and all, and rushes over to help while I called 911. Rachel held this woman and talked to her so nicely and helped her as well as the paramedics that came later. She held her for at least 15 minutes until the EMTs got her on a stretcher. I am so blessed to have a wonderful wife who will always take care of people who need it, and we were blessed that we were able to be in the right place at the right time to make a difference. Rachel and I are on our way to our honeymoon, and I am still blown away that she got out of the car in a scary situation to do what she does best. I can’t wait for a hospital to scoop her up so she can make a difference in people’s lives every day. I am so proud of my wife. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with someone who is truly a servant of God, and to serve alongside her.
After emergency responders arrived, Rachel was left standing at the side of the road feeling frazzled at how her wedding day had turned out.
Rachel said that she wants to meet Taylor and her family again someday.
