Bullfighting School Allowed Teenagers To Slaughter 24 Calves For Entertainment While Kids Watched Them

A bullfighting school that trains young kids to kill calves is normal in Spain, but the practice has dropped in numbers after thousands of animal rights activists are demanding to shut down the cruel practice that kills bulls.

Even after the demands of the animal rights activists, a school in Colmenar Viejo has doubled down on the practice.

Reports suggest that 24 calves were killed by their students in just 4 days.

Video clips and pictures that were recorded by activists show students brutally slaughtering the calves in front of kids that were watching the show.

After the calves were killed, some kids were presented with the ears that were carved from the dying animals.

According to Animal Guardians, kids aged 14 start training in bullfighting rings.

Marta Esteban, the spokesperson of the Animal Guardians, said, “They usually start killing animals from 14 years old onwards and they usually stay in bullfighting schools until they are 18, although some stay until they are 21.”

Marta added, “This event violates the right of children and adolescents to live in an environment free of violence and it is imperative that something is done about it.”

There are at least 50 bullfighting academies in Spain, and 24 academies are located in Andalusia, a region in Spain.

Calf-fighting, better known as becerradas in the country, involves bulls that are not even 1 year old and are smaller than a mastiff.

Academies use calves as they are not that dangerous if you compare them with large and full-grown bulls.

Carmen Ibarlucea, the president of the La Tortura No Es Cultura, said, “It is inconceivable that these acts of extreme violence towards sentient beings can be considered a form of entertainment.”

Carmen added, “They are an atrocity and should be banned. We ask people to sign our petition and write to the city council of Colmenar Viejo asking for the end of these spectacles.”

Bullfighting is protected under the laws of Spain, but according to Animal Guardians, the support for the brutal and un-human practice has fallen to 19 percent in just 3 years. It was once at 30 percent.
