El Chapo: Mexican Drug Lord Sentenced To Life In Prison

Joaquin Guzman, better known as “El Chapo”, the Mexican Drug Lord, has been sentenced to life in prison during his appearance in a courtroom in New York.

The 62-year-old drug lord was convicted for his crimes, which includes smuggling tons of cocaine, marijuana, heroin, and methamphetamines into the United States of America.

Chapo also smuggled in weapons and is involved in money laundering.

Chapo is also accused of raping and drugging girls that are 13-years-old.

Reports suggest that Chapo called young girls as “vitamins” as he believed that being involved in sexual activities with young girls gave him life.

According to Alex Cifuentes, a former associate of El Chapo, the drug lord once gave $100 Million USD as bribe money to Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto.

Cifuentes also claims that Nieto called El Chapo in 2012 and said that he would end the manhunt against him if he paid $250m.

In 2009, El Chapo was listed in the Forbes list of the globe’s most affluent billionaires, Chapo is the former leader of the Sinaloa organization in Mexico.

But this is not why Chapo is famous for, the cheeky little man is known for escaping high-profile prison breaks.

In 2001, Chapo managed to broke out the prison by hiding in a laundry cart. He spent the next 13 years in and around Sinaloa hiding and running the organization.

Chapo was also arrested and placed in jail in 2014, and on July 2015, the man escaped it again through a mile-long tunnel that brought him out of the Altiplano Prison, which is a maximum-security prison.

The sons of Guzman managed to buy a property near the prison. The men of Guzman made a mile-long tunnel to his cell, which was located by a GPS watch that was smuggled to the prison cell of Guzman.

El Chapo was then arrested for the third time in 2016, but this time, the drug lord was sent to the United States of America.

El Chapo is so famous that he became the main subject of “El Chapo”, a series in Netflix that is currently in its 3rd season.
