Encephalitis Death Toll Rises To 136 In Bihar, More Than 600 Minors Affected
More than 600 children in 16 districts of Bihar have been affected by Encephalitis. The official death toll for the brain fever has increased to 136.
The officials of Bihar released statistics which showed that there were 626 registered cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome across the state since June 1 and 136 people have lost their lives to the AES.
117 people lost their lives to the brain fever in Muzaffarpur alone.
The AES has caused deaths amongst children and adults in Bhagalpur, East Champaran, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, and Samastipur.
Once a person is diagnosed with AES, the person goes through Hypoglycemia, which causes your blood sugar levels to drop.
The health department of Bihar said that doctors have also faced kids that were diagnosed with Japanese Encephalitis and Herpes.
The deaths caused by AES this year is considered as the highest since 2014.
Union Health Minister Harshvardhan visited Muzaffarpur earlier this week.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the district and did a meeting with the officials so they could control the situation.
The health department of Bihar as brought in a number of medical officers, child specialists, doctors, and nurses from other districts.
A number of child specialist doctors, who are not working for the government, are carrying out free camps for children in the state.
