A 17-year-old girl from Bosnia was beaten up by her Muslim parents who shaved off her hair because she fell in love with a Christian boy.

The girl, who was not named, was beaten and had her long hair shaved off by her parents, aunt, and uncle.

She had to go through all that because she got into a relationship with a 20-year-old Serbian Christian boy.

The incident reportedly happened in the eastern city of Besancon, France.

According to judicial sources, the girl was left with bruises and a broken rib.

The relatives of the girl and her parents are currently facing trial in France on charges of violence against a minor and for shaving her head.

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin released a statement about the incident on Twitter, where he said:

Shaved and beaten because she ‘loved a Christian’. Deeply shocked by this act of torture on this 17-year-old girl. This barbarity calls for the most severe punishment.

The girl and the Christian boy lived in the same building and were in a relationship for several months.

The girl arrived from Bosnia with her family in France 2 years ago.

According to deputy prosecutor Margaret Parietti, the families knew each other and they also knew about the relationship of their kids.

However, when they started to talk about getting married, the parents of the girl told her that they are Muslims and they are not allowed to marry a Christian boy.

The parents of the girl, her aunt, and uncle were detained by the authorities for being involved in the cruel incident.

The family has been banned from contacting the teenager.

The family will be tried for violence against a minor.
