ISRO Confirms Chandrayaan-2 Will Reach Moon By August 20

India Moon Mission 2019: Chandrayaan-2, the second moon mission of India, launched successfully on July 22 and is expected to reach the Moon by August 20, 2019.

ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) confirmed that the lunar mission will reach the orbit of the moon by August 20.

On July 22, the Chandrayaan-2 was launched, the spaceship has three main segments in it.

The first one is its orbiter, which weighs over 2,300 kilograms, the second one is Vikram, the lander, which weighs over 1,400 kilograms,  and the third one is Pragyan, the rover that will roam around the landing site.

The Chandrayaan-2 will touch down on the south pole of the moon and will do a number of researches that will find water on the surface of the moon.

ISRO said that the trans-lunar insertion of the lunar mission is scheduled on August 14, 2019.

Vikram, the moon lander, will land on the surface of the South Pole on September 7, 2019.
