Manta Ray Asks Help From Diver To Remove Painful Hooks Caught In Her Eye
An underwater photographer, Jake Wilton, was diving in the waters of the Ningaloo Reef in Australia with Monty Hall, a marine biologist when a massive manta ray decided to approach them an ask them to remove hooks that were caught in her eye.
Wilton said the huge manta ray got “closer and closer” and started to unfurl her eye towards him.
He added, “She got closer and closer and then started unfurling to present the eye to me. I knew we had to get the hooks out of her eye or she would have been in big trouble.”
Wilton worked and removed all the hooks from the eye of the huge manta ray while Monty Hall caught everything on cam.
Hall said that the manta ray stayed still for Wilton and waited patiently to let the diver remove all the hooks.
Monty Hall said, “I’m sure that manta knew that Jake was trying to get the hooks out.”
Jake Wilton removed all the hooks from the right eye of the huge manta ray.
The 2 said that the hooks could have caused an infection in the right eye of the manta ray. If the hooks stayed longer, it could have caused blindness and even death.
Manta rays are huge, and they may look intimidating. But these animals are harmless to humans and are really intelligent.
