“McHive” the world’s smallest McDonald’s restaurant is now open for bees

Anywhere we go, it is expected that there is a McDonald’s restaurant nearby, the chain is famous for its fast service and good food for those people who are in a hurry.

And recently, the fast food chain decided to open the smallest McDonald’s restaurant in the world, and sorry for breaking your heart, it’s only for bees.

The McHive is known as the “world’s smallest” Maccies, the restaurant is so small that it has the same size as an average beehive.

Here is a picture of the McHive:

The McHive looks like a normal McDonald’s, it has signage, drive-thru, and its golden arches. Unfortunately, there are now working bees inside the restaurant, as a matter of fact, you will find a fully-functional beehive inside it.

The McHive serves as a “tribute” to their chains, as most of them have beehives on their roofs.

Bees play a huge role in our planet’s ecosystem as they pollinate around 3 quarters of our plants, and due to people using pesticides and climate change, the population of bees are currently declining, and if one-day bees go extinct, there will be no food for us.

There approximately 37,000 McDonald’s restaurants on planet earth, and if all of the restaurants will get the “McHive”, we could see a positive impact on the numbers of bees.

The marketing director of McDonald’s Sweden, Christoffer Rönnblad, describer the idea as a
“great” one.

During an interview, he said, “We have a lot of really devoted franchisees who contribute to our sustainability work, and it feels good that we can use our size to amplify such a great idea as beehives on the rooftops.”
