Millions Of People Applied In Fake Job Vacancy For Google Ceo Sundar Pichai’s Position On LinkedIn
Who wouldn’t like to work as the CEO of Google right? Well, if you want to you can apply, earlier this week, a user decided to create a fake job vacancy for the position of Google CEO on LinkedIn.
In case you guys did not know, if you are the CEO of Google, you are one of the most top-paid CEOs in the world
The fake job vacancy happened due to a security bug that was later on admitted by LinkedIn.
The bug allows users to post an official-looking job opening on any firm’s page on the platform.
The security bug was revealed by Michel Rijnders, a Dutch Recruiter.
He explained how he managed to do the impossible, “Everyone that pays a small amount of money can post a job on LinkedIn. It’s easy. You fill in a few details, like the employer. And that’s where the problem is.”
He added, “Everyone can post jobs that are assigned to any employer of their choosing. For example, I can post a job at LinkedIn.”
LinkedIn thanked Michel for shining light on the security bug.
An official statement that was released by the company said, “Thank you Michel Rijnders for bringing this to our attention. We’ve removed the posting and we’re resolving the issue that allowed this post to go live. LinkedIn is a place for real people to have real conversations about their careers.”
The statement added, “The fake listings appeared on the tech giants’ LinkedIn business pages alongside their other job openings. The listings also appeared in LinkedIn’s job search. There was no approval process required.”
LinkedIn said that its platform is no place for fake jobs.
The company said, “We are committed to stopping fraudulent jobs from ever reaching our members through automated technology and the help of our members reporting any suspicious job postings.”
The company also talked about the bug.
In the statement, LinkedIn said, “This issue was caused by a bug in our online jobs experience that allowed members to edit the company after a job had already been posted. The issue has now been resolved. Fraudulent job postings are a clear violation of our Terms of Service.”
They added, “When they are brought to our attention, we quickly move to take them down. While we do allow companies to post on behalf of other companies (such as in the case of recruiting firms), this is only permitted with the knowledge of both parties.”
When the job vacancy was posted, LinkedIn users were surprised as it showed up. The job posting for Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s replacement in LinkedIn, which is a popular platform used for job seekers, was fake.
