Musician Dragged From Tent And Mauled To Death By Grizzly Bear In A Remote Area In Canada
44-year-old Julian Gauthier was mauled to death by a grizzly bear while he was sleeping at a remote area in Mackenzie River, which is located in the Northwest Territories, Canada.
44-year-old Julian was born in Canada, but he moved to France when he was 19-years-old.
He was on a trip by the Mackenzie River with Camille Toscani, a biologist, when he was dragged by the grizzly bear.
Julian was on a nature trip as he was trying to collect the sounds of nature for his work. He even planned to canoe 930 miles down the river from Fort Providence to Inuvik.
In the middle of the night, at the Tulita area, near the river, Julian was mauled to death by the grizzly bear.
A week before the incident happened, Julian posted about witnessing 4 bears on their trip in the remote area.
Camille Toscani, the biologist that was with Julian, discovered Julian was missing in the morning. She went in and started to call for help, and luckily, she came across a group of hikers.
The travelers that Camille met set off a distress beacon, which was received by the Royal Canadian Mounted police.
The Royal Canadian Mountain Police then sent a helicopter to evacuate the travelers and to search Julian, who went missing.
Marie York-Condon, a spokesperson of the Royal Canadian Mountain Police, released a statement on Friday this week.

Marie said, “A woman reported her traveling companion had an encounter with a bear. The man was reported missing after the encounter.”
The dead body of Julian was discovered by the authorities a day after the biologist was rescued by the RCMP.
Pieces of evidence that were found confirmed that Julian was mauled to death by a bear.
According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, encounters with bears in the area are not common, but fatalities are rare.
The friends and family members of Julian said that it was his dream to explore the remote areas of the Northwest Territories in Canada.
It is reported that Julian started to plan to go on an adventure in the Northwest Territories since 2016.
