Report Shows Vallejo Police Fired More Than 55 Rounds At Rapper Willie McCoy In Just 3.5 Seconds

The Vallejo Police Department released a report about the horrific shooting of Rapper Willie McCoy that was sitting inside his car in a drive-through of a Taco Bell this year.

On February 9, 2019, officers did a welfare check at the Taco Bell fast-food restaurant after one of its employees said that a man has “slumped over” in the driver’s seat of a silver colored Mercedes-Benz.

20-year-old McCoy was sleeping inside the car when the police saw that there was a gun on his lap and noticed that the vehicle was in the drive mode.

After McCoy woke up from his nap, the police officers said that he tried to reach his gun and was seen leaning forward.

The body camera footage of Officer Colin Eaton showed that he was shouting at McCoy and was saying to put his hands where they could see them.

The police officers ended up shooting 55 rounds in 3.5 seconds at McCoy.

The numbers were attained from the report of David Blake, a retired officer.

The report made by former officer Blake concluded, “In general, I find the use of deadly force in this case to be reasonable and in line with contemporary training and police practices associated with use of deadly force.”

The family of the 20-year-old rapper said that McCoy was shot more than 20 times. McCoy was pronounced as dead on the scene.

The death of the 20-year-old rapper has sparked outrage in the community of the Bay Area.

One of the police officers who were involved in the shooting of McCoy fatally shot a black man last year.

John Burris, the representing attorney of the McCoy Family, said that Ronnell Foster was riding a bike in Vallejo when McMahon and another police officer decided to track him down. When Ronnell got off his bike and started to run away, the police officers had to chase him, and during the chase, the officers struck him on the head with a flashlight and fired a Taser at him.

Attorney Burris said that Officer McMahon shot Ronnell Foster in the back and at the back of his head while he was running away from the officers.

The family of McCoy still cannot believe that the officers had to shoot him while he was sleeping and was not being a threat to anyone.

The death of the 20-year-old rapper has prompted questions about the decisions that the police make.

David Harrison, the cousin of McCoy, criticized the decision of the Vallejo police, he said, “What the community is coming into contact with. Is some type of squad in the Vallejo Police Department targeting young black men for execution.”

Claudia Quintana, the Vallejo City Attorney, said that the investigation for the death of McCoy is still ongoing.

She said, “The death of Mr. McCoy is not the outcome that the city of Vallejo and our community desire.”

She added, “We understand how difficult this situation is for everyone involved. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: for all persons to go home to their families, and we will continue working hard to identify those strategies that allow us to obtain desirable favorable outcomes to tough situations like the one addressed in the report.”
