A 19-year-old teenager in Hyderabad committed suicide by consuming poison after her mother scolded her for spending too much time on her smartphone.

The Hyderabad police said that the mother of Shravani, the 19-year-old girl, told her that she should spend less time on her phone.

Preliminary investigations also revealed that Shravani got into depression after her mother scolded her for using her cellphone too much.

During an interview with ANI, the spokesperson of the Panjagutta police station said, “A 19-year-old old girl, Shravani, committed suicide after being counselled by her mother for excessive use of mobile phone.”

The spokesperson added, “However, a case is being registered under Section 174 CrPC, the exact reason will be known only after the investigation is completed.”

The dead body of Shravani has been sent for an autopsy at the Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad.

The police will also conduct a further investigation for the incident.
