A transgender woman was caught on cam setting herself on fire to highlight the plight of sex workers having no income in the mid of the coronavirus lockdown.

LGBT groups are currently calling more state support.

The incident happened as several transgender women staged a small demonstration in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, on the evening of Thursday.

Images that are viral on the internet showed one of the women running down a street while she was covered in flames.

She could be seen stripping off her burning jacket and being apprehended by the police.

According to the police, the transgender woman shouted:

I am a transgender woman and I’m setting myself ablaze because the Georgian state doesn’t care about me.

She was taken to a hospital suffering from burns.

The condition of the woman is not critical.
