Drug Dealer Found With Cocaine Worth Over $71,600 Says He Is A Key Worker During Pandemic
A driver that was arrested by the police in Cardiff was found with cocaine worth over $71,600 USD said he is a key worker during the coronavirus pandemic.
Benjamin Evans, who was wearing vi-visibility work clothes, was stopped by the police.
According to reports, Evans was pulled over by the police during the coronavirus lockdown.
He tried to talk his way out of the traffic stop.
A quick search of his vehicle revealed a package that had cocaine.
The street value of the cocaine is at around $71,600 USD (£57,000.
The man reportedly tries to talk his way out by claiming that his work for selling cocaine amidst the pandemic is an essential job.
The police said the possession of drugs with the intent to supply does not qualify as essential work amidst the coronavirus.
The Cardiff Magistrates’ Court heard the stop and search happened on the A40 Brecon bypass on the morning of April 6, 2020.
Officers reportedly stopped the Ford Focus, which was being driven by Evans, and asked him why he was outside.
Intelligence reports led the police to doubt that the 26-year-old’s story was wrong, so they went to search the car.
The police then found a large stash of cocaine wrapped in brown tape.
Benjamin Evans, who lives in Holly Street, Pontardawe, ended up pleading guilty to the possession of cocaine with the intent to sell it.
Evans will be sentenced at Swansea Crown Court on May 20, 2020.
