South American Woman Pulled Out Of Bodybag After Being Mistakenly Pronounced Dead

A woman from South America was pulled out of a bodybag after she was mistakenly pronounced dead by medical officers.

Gladys Rodriguez de Duarte, the woman, was sent to a funeral home in Coronel Oviedo, Paraguay.

Her family was told that she had passed away, but she was not.

The woman, who is 46 years old, went to a clinic after complaining that she had high blood pressure, however 2 hours later, she was pronounced dead.

But police reports were different.

The body of the woman was sent to a funeral home, who later found that she was alive.

The funeral home said that the woman was alive and was mistakenly sent to their place.

Duarte was reportedly admitted to the San Fernando clinic at 9.30 am on Saturday (11 April) where she was cared for by a Dr. Heriberto Vera.

At 11:20 am, Dr. Vera pronounced her dead.

Dr. Vera cited ‘CA of the uterus’ as the cause of death.

The body of the woman was later sent to the Duarte e Hijos funeral home.

The staff at the funeral home later found out that the woman was alive and was still breathing, so she was transferred to the ISS (Institute of Social Security).

She was later moved to the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

Maximino Duarte Ferreira, the husband of Duarte, has lodged a complaint regarding the medical care his wife had received from the doctor that declared her dead.

During an interview with TV Aire, a local news agency, Duarte said:

He (Dr Vera) assumed she was dead and handed her naked to me like an animal with her death certificate. He didn’t even revive her. We trusted him, that’s why we went there. But they disconnected her and passed her off to the funeral home.

Dr. Catalino Fabio, the director of the hospital were Duarte was brought, said that the woman is fine.

Dr. Fabio also told the media that the woman was in a stable condition.

The Prosecutor’s Office has launched an official investigation for the unusual incident.
