Saif Ali Khan Reacts To Sonu Nigam’s Tweet On ‘Azaan-Forced Religiousness’, Calls It ‘Aggressive’

The popular Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has curtained in a new controversy and we all know that it has been a week since Sonu has been on news. His tweets on the prayer call went viral roping in severe criticism from all corners of the country. People went criticizing him, questioning his previous work during the jagrans.

Earlier, Mika Singh took on to his twitter taking a dig at Sonu Nigam and Richa Chaddha supported Nigam then, many celebrities opposed Nigam and the few supported him. However, it appears like the incident is still on heat as Nigam went forward shaving off his head as per the challenge made by the fatwa from Bengal.

Meanwhile, the actor Saif Ali Khan now joined the list of critics after making some comments on Sonu Nigam‘s tweets, the actor called Nigam’s tweets as aggressive and should be a private affair.

When asked about the ‘forced-religiousness’ tweets made by Nigam, Saif in an interview with Indian Express has said:

“Don’t know who you are offending. At one level I agree, the lesser sound the better, there should be certain decibel levels allowed across religious practices. I also understand the amplification of the sound during azaan comes from insecurity. Not just here but also in Israel apparently where three different religions co-exist. It’s been written about so I believe it’s the same. As a minority, you would like to make your presence felt and hopefully accepted. If someone says that it should be extinguished, it will make some people little uncomfortable. As a precursor to some sort of holocaust, it’s the first thing you think of. There’s a bit of fear there. It’s fine to express your views on the decibel levels. I think that tweet was a bit aggressive though, initially. And I do think religion should be a private affair and we should be a secular country.”
