Sushant Singh Rajput ‘Laugh’ It Off After Not Winning Best Actor Award At IIFA, Twitterati Thrashed Him Brutally

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Award Ceremony 2017 took place at MetLife Stadium, New York. The who’s who of Bollywood turned up in New York and raised the temperature like never before.

It is an open secret now that the award of the Best Actor is grabbed by none other than Shahid Kapoor for “Udta Punjab” in which he portrayed the character of a drug abusing rock star. Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress award for the same film.

Undeniably, Shahid played his role to the perfection and was highly praised for it too. Varun Dhawan got the Best Performance in a Comic Role Award for “Dishoom”.

Sushant Singh Rajput, who was hoping to bag the Best Actor award for MS Dhoni: The Untold Story was not particularly happy with Shahid’s win. It was quite evident from a subtle yet sarcastic tweet that he sent out after Shahid was announced as the winner.

He took to Twitter, tagged IIFA and wrote, “hahaha.”

Sushant Singh Rajput, who performed at the award ceremony did not win an award, and his tweet is being interpreted as a classic case of ‘grapes of sour’.

“Sushant’s tweet had nothing to do with the awards. It was simply an expression of having a successful graduation from a background dancer, to now being an actor performing at the very same award function. In fact, the tweet was posted right after Sushant’s performance and had no relevance to the award ceremony. As opposed to the speculation, not getting an award doesn’t effect Sushant as he is very secure as an actor,” the source was quoted.

However, Twitter trolled him brutally for his ironic tweet:

However, some of them showed sympathy as well.

For everyone’s surprise, Anupam Kher is the only actor who got the award for the “Best Actor In A Supporting Role” for “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story” wherein he played Dhoni’s father, Pan Singh Dhoni. Sushant put in his 100% in the film and his hard-work, dedication, and sincerity were apparently visible.

The stars assembled at New York to join in the celebrations. Everyone from Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif to Varun Dhawan and Salman Khan made an appearance and mesmerized the fans with their performance. While others made news for their bold and unconventional fashion choices.
