The 19-month-old son of a volunteer who died fighting the Australian bushfires was awarded during the funeral of his father.

19-month-old Harvey Keaton wore a uniform when he received the posthumous medal for his father’s bravery.

The funeral was held on Thursday near Sydney, little Harvey was seen sucking on his dummy during the awarding.

Dozens of firefighters formed a guard of honor to salute the coffin of Geoffrey Keaton.

On December 19, 2019, Geoffrey and Andrew O’Dwyer, his colleague, got their fire truck hit by a fallen tree as they were en route to ablaze.

Andrew, who is also the father of a toddler, is going to be buried next week.

The bravery award was presented by Shane Fitzsimmons, the fire commissioner of New South Wales.

Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Australia, also attended the funeral.

PM Morrison said he was attending the funeral to thank Keaton for the life and service that he gave.

Pictures that were released by the New South Wales Rural Fire Service showed little Harvey being held by his mother as they were looking at the coffin of his father.

A mug with the message “Daddy, I love you to the moon and back!” can also be seen in the pictures.

Since September 2019, 18 people have died as a result of the fires.
