9-Year-Old Girl Is Pepper Sprayed By Police Officer As She Screams For Her Father
A 9-year-old girl from New York, USA, was pepper sprayed by the police as she was screaming for her father.
Body cameras footage showed the moment the police officer pepper sprayed the little girl.
According to reports, the incident happened in Rochester, New York City.
The police were also seen battling to get the girl in a car before one orders for a pepper spray to be used on the girl.
In the horrifying video, the little girl could be heard screaming “I want my dad”.
The police were also heard telling the girl to get inside the car.
A police officer was also heard telling the girl that she will find her father and even asked her to get inside the vehicle to stay warm.
The girl was brought inside the car but she was constantly screaming and disobeying the simple commands of the authorities.
As a result of her not following commands, a pepper spray was used.
At some point, the officer was heard telling another officer to spray the girl.
The police released the video on Friday.
The Rochester Police Department said that 9 officers were deployed to the scene.
Deputy Police Chief Andre Anderson said that the girl was suicidal.
They added:
She indicated she wanted to kill herself and she wanted to kill her mom.
Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan, released a statement about the incident.
They said:
I’m not going to stand here and tell you that for a 9-year-old to have to be pepper-sprayed is OK. It’s not. I don’t see that as who we are as a department. And we’re going to do the work we have to do to ensure that these kinds of things don’t happen.
The girl was taken to the hospital after the incident.
The authorities said that the girl was released back to her family after treatment.
