Hyderabad:  Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities are preparing plans to tackle the engineering challenges to execute the project on the JBS-MGBS railway lane which is part of JBS to Falaknuma corridor. The corridor runs from Jubilee Bus Station in Secunderabad and meets at the central point of Hyderabad Metro Rail in the city, that is, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station. The property acquisitions process has already started and is going on at a brisk pace between the two stations.

The distance that will be covered through this part of the corridor is 10 km, the total of which is 15 km that is from JBS to Falaknuma. As stated the work is on JBS and MGBS stretch is on, but the left over MGBS to Falaknuma work is yet to be taken up as it is facing some troubles due to property hurdles in the way. At first, the MGBS to Falaknuma stretch faced political hiccups, to which the solution proposed was to take the railway lane through Musi River and passing through Bahadupura-Tadbun area. The reason for this was cited that there are many property acquisition hurdles, if the route were be through Darushifa area. But recently, after much protests and presentations, the proposal for Darushifa route was granted. But as soon as the news spread, many religious leaders of the locality of Darushifa belonging to Shia Community approached political circles and Government Authorities to convey their issues. The main issue is that, there are many religious structures on the route. So, for this the the Metro Authorities will have to chalk out a proper plan before the works initiates, so that, the solution is solved easily.

The JBS to MGBS stretch will require a total of 343 pillars to be laid and as of now 338 pillars are already installed. The work pertaining to the Balance of Pillars are at an advanced stage according to Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) authorities.

A total of  ten stations, which includes two interchange stations are being built on the stretch. One at Parade Grounds which is, as of now under operation and another interchange station is to come up at MGBS. The land acquisition process at many key areas, like Musheerabad, RTC X roads, Chikkadpally, Narayanguda and other areas is already complete.

The areas like Badi Chowdi, Sultan Bazar and Putlibowli are under process for land acquisition, according to HMRL.

“About 130 properties are to be acquired in these areas and we are in the final stages of completing the process,”  informed HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy.

But to complete all this tedious work, the HMRL authorities are facing engineering challenges on the JBS-MGBS stretch. The Metro viaduct through Sultan Bazar, measuring about 66 feet, is the narrowest point and the widest one measures about 200 feet.
