Reliance Jio has moved the bars in the telecom industry in such a way that one can’t even dream of anything nearby that. This mobile network firm tried to do its best in smartphones industry but failed miserably due to the lack of quality and functioning. Now it appears like Reliance JIo is once again trying to check its fortune in the smartphone industry by coming up with smartphones as cheap as Rs 999.

Mukesh Ambani‘s Reliance Industries is currently in a 2-Year-Old partnership with Spreadtrum Communications, a popular Chinese company. The two companies are working to reduce the starting prices of the 4G-enabled phone by at least half from the current levels. Experts are expecting that once this low price 4G feature phone will launch, every possible person will shift to smartphones from the ongoing featurephones.

When asked about this new venture, Neeraj Sharma, head of India’s Spreadtrum Communication has said “We are working on a technology that makes a Rs 1,500 4G feature phone viable. We have already started concept promotions to our partners”.

Meanwhile, sources claim that Jio is planning the launch of modernized phones ranging between or at Rs 999 and Rs 1,500. These mobiles will be equipped with newly developed Spreadtrum chipsets. Rumors were heard that Reliance Jio is also in talks with other chip manufacturers — Qualcomm and MediaTek for cheap 4G LTE enabled processors and other basic tools.

It is already known that Jio has attained a firm grip in telecom market with more than 100 million Prime membership users. Now let us wait and watch the enigmatic smartphones that will be unveiled soon.
