ISRO INSAT-3DR Weather Satellite Is All Set To Launch On 28th August

ISRO, IndiaScientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) are gearing up for the launch of its weather satellite INSAT-3DR on the 28th of August, 2016. The satellite with geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV-MkII) will launch from Sriharikota base in Andhra Pradesh, officials confirmed.

“The GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) Mark II will carry the geostationary weather satellite INSAT-3DR. We are looking to launch it by the end of next month,” ISRO Satellite Centre Director Mayilsami Annadurai told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.

According to the Media Reports:

Plans and preparations are in full swing in ISRO for its latest launch of the weather satellite INSAT-3DR using GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle). The satellite launch is going to take place on 28th of August (tentatively) at Sriharikota as said by the officials on Friday.

“The weather satellite INSAT-3DR will be put into orbit by a GSLV rocket August end. Preparations for the launch are going on,” said  P. Kunhi Krishnan, President of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC). The information about the satellite launch was revealed by Indian space agency chief A.S. Kiran Kumar at the Madras Institute of Technology Alumni Association meeting in Chennai that took place on Friday.
