Irma Bule is famous in Dangdut circles, a genre of Indonesian folk music. She is no stranger to daring on-stage antics. Bule’s shows usually see her performing with venomous snakes such as king cobras, reticulated pythons and boa constrictors.

According to eye-witnesses, Bule had accidentally stepped on the cobra’s tail in the middle of her second song which caused it to bite her in the thigh. Unfortunately, the venom spread fast into her bloodstream before a snake handler pulled it away. She was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to the snake venom and died. Bule’s mother said that her daughter had believed that the king cobra at her show had been de-fanged.
