After putting up a very small total of 215 in the first innings, the Indians pulled off 2 SA wickets in the last hour of Day 1. That was a very good comeback and showed how difficult it is to bat on that pitch. With great spin bowlers like Ashwin, Mishra and Jadeja, India was expected to perform its best on the spin track.

With a very good start to the Day 2, India were successful in collapsing the batting line up of the South Africans. No one, including AB De Villiers, Amla, Elgar etc could stand up to the occasion and perform. Indian bowling, lead by Ashwin stood up to the reputation and trashed the SA line up and restricted them to a mere total of 79/10 !
