Gautham Gambhir, a left-handed batsman who has played the role opening batsman for India along with Sehwag. Gambhir played a vital role across all formats of the game. But, Gambhir was away from the international cricket since few months. Gambhir was born on October 14, 1981, and he turns 34 today.

Gambhir was the leading run scorer for India in the first World T20 tournament in 2007 in South Africa. Gambhir’s fine innings ended with smashing 75 runs in the final match against Pakistan. Overall statistics of Gambhir in the tournament ended with 227 runs at an average of 37.83.

Another big knock by Gambhir was in the final match of World Cup 2011 in India. Gambhir came in the 2 down position and score shocking 97 runs under pressure in the World Cup final match against Sri Lanka. Gambhir just missed a century by 3 runs, but he played a wonderful innings.

Gambhir was named the ICC Test Player of the Year in 2009. Gambhir broke a record as he was the only Indian batsman to score more than 300 runs in four consecutive Test series. Gambhir also holds the number one ranked batsman in ICC test rankings for a period of ten days.

Apart from the international career, Gambhir had also proved as a player and a Captain of one of the IPL teams. After jumping from Delhi Daredevils to Kolkata Knight Riders, Gambhir won the title of IPL in two seasons in 2012 and 2014.
