IBPS Clerk Prelims Review Analysis & Cutoff Marks 2017:

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is an autonomous agency in India, which started its operation in 1975 as Personnel Selection Services (PSS). In 1984, IBPS became an independent entity at the behest of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Public Sector Banks. IBPS CWE is now mandatory for anyone who seeks an employment in 20 public sectors and Regional Rural banks. IBPS periodically accepts the exam applications from the candidates at their website, and the exams are organized at various locations in the country in online mode. This year it has released the recruitment notification for the Clerk posts and the candidates who had appeared for the exam can check the review & analysis here.

IBPS Clerk Prelims Overall Analysis:

In IBPS Clerk prelims examination the questions were asked from Reasoning Ability (35 Ques), Numerical Ability (35 Ques), and English Language (30 Ques).

The examination has three sections i.e; Reasoning Ability (35 Ques), Numerical Ability (35 Ques), and English Language (30 Ques). A total of 100 questions are asked in the exam. The overall exam is easy to moderate. Out of three sections Reasoning is easy and Quantitative Aptitude is difficult, English is Moderate to difficult. You can check the sectional wise review here.

Overall candidates can attempt about 80-85 questions.

IBPS Clerk Prelims 1st Shift Section Wise Analysis:

Reasoning: Easy

The Reasoning was easy. The questions were asked from various topics and there are less number of puzzle questions.

Arrangement & Pattern – 10 Questions based on
Alphabetical Series – 5 Qs
Mixed Series – 5 Qs

The questions were moderate to diificult

Inequality – 3 Questions – Easy

Syllogism – 3 Questions Easy

Position of Letter – 1 Questions Easy

Word creation – 1 Questions Easy

Circular Sitting Arrangement – 5 Questions Easy

Linear Arrangement – 5 Questions Easy

Floor Puzzle – 5 Questions Easy

English: Moderate

Reading Comprehension – 5 Qs Moderate

Error Spotting – 10 Qs Moderate

Fill in the blanks – 10 Qs (Single Fillers)
More than one word can be filled in a sentence since options were like both (i) & (ii), (ii) & (iii) etc. Moderate – Difficult

Idioms & Phrase Replacement – 5 Qs Moderate

Numerical Ability: Moderate

The level of Numerical Ability section was Easy-Moderate. The number of questions from arithmetic (word problems) was significantly high as 15 out of 35 questions were from the arithmetic portion.
