84-year-old Singer-Actress Ruma Guha Thakurta has passed away
Ruma Guha Thakurta, a singer-actress who hails from Bengal, passed away today inside her house in Kolkata, she was 84-years-old.
She was known for her outstanding acting in movies like Abhijan and Ganashatru.
The funeral for the late actress is going to be held today, the singer-actress was born in Kolkata in 1934.
Ruma Guha Thakurta was once married to Kishore Kumar for 8 years, from 1950-1958.
Ruma and Kishore have son, Amit Kumar, who is now 66-years-old, is a composer and singer in Bollywood Movies.
After getting divorced from Kishore Kumar, the singer-actress got married with Arup Guha Thakurta. Sromona Guha Thakurta, the daughter of Arup and Ruma, is also a singer.
The singer-actress is also the founder of the Calcutta Youth Choir, it was founded in 1958.
Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, tweeted her condolences to the family members of Ruma, she tweeted, “Saddened at the passing away of Ruma Guha Thakurta. Her contribution to the field of cinema and music will always be remembered. My condolences to her family and her admirers.”

The singer-actress started her career in 1944 by acting in Jwar Bhata, a movie that was directed by Amiya Chakravarty.
Ruma Guha was also seen in Personal Assistant, Nirjan Saikate, Antony Firingee, Dadar Kirti, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Agun and Asha O Bhalobasha.
During the 90s, Ruma was also seen acting in Indarjit, Wheel Chair, and Sangharsha.
