City Builds Motorway Bridge Around House After Chinese Owner Refuses To Move Out

A motorway bridge has been built around a small house in Guangzhou, China after its owner did not want to sell it to the government of China.

According to reports, the owner refused to get out of her house for 10 straight years.

The building is known as a “nail house” because the owner rejected compensation from a developer to demolish it.

The good thing is that the owner of the house will have views of the newly opened Haizhuyong Bridge day and night.

The one-story house reportedly has a 40-square-meter (430-square-foot) flat and is situated in a pit in the middle of the four-lane traffic link.

The house is a very dark and noisy area.

Liang, the owner, said she did not agree to move out of the house because the government did not offer her a replacement property in an ideal location.

The woman also said that she was more than happy to deal with the consequences.

She also said that she does not care about what other people think of her.

Liang explained:

You think this environment is poor, but I feel it’s quiet, liberating, pleasant and comfortable.

Government officials said that they earmarked the plot for demolition in 2010 to build the bridge, however, the woman did not move out.

There were 47 houses in that area before the bridge was opened, everyone moved out and agreed to take the compensation, but Liang did not.

Liang was offered many flats as well as cash compensation schemes, however, she was not budged.

They added that they will be continuing to communicate with Ms. Liang and offer her a new flat so she could be safe.
