Indian cinema lost the versatile actress and one of a legendary actress of Bollywood Sridevi who took her last breath in Dubai on February 25. She was only 54 and cause of her death was a major cardiac arrest. Sridevi’s untimely death has left a void in the entire film fraternity in India.

Many celebrities and politicians took Twitter to share their grief but her demise is perhaps the biggest loss to her family. It was just five months before her elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor’s Bollywood debut, Sridevi died in Dubai. She was in Dubai to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding when she suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday night, leaving her family, fans, and Bollywood in shock.

While her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor accompanied Sridevi to the wedding in Dubai, Jhanvi decided to stay behind in Mumbai to shoot for her debut film Dhadak. According to the sources, the details of last moments of Sridevi in Dubai hotel room were revealed. The sources said that Sridevi was getting ready for dinner when she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest in her room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel.

But the speculations say that the actual reason behind the female superstar’s death is yet to be known and the Dubai police are investigating Boney Kapoor and the hotel staff regarding the incident. There are rumors that say there went something wrong between the husband and wife and it led to her death.

The entire case took a U-Turn when the forensic report said that the cause of her death was “Accidental drowning” and not cardiac arrest. After more than two days of investigation, the Dubai Police have cleared the release of Bollywood icon Sridevi’s body for the embalming process.

Yesterday, Dubai police had transferred the case to Public Prosecutor so as to carry on with the proceedings. It is said that even Boney Kapoor was interrogated for around 16-18 hours in order to clear out the matter. And the latest update on this case is that the mortal remains will finally arrive in India today.

The Dubai Prosecution Service has also closed the investigation into the actor’s death. Finally, a clearance has been given from Dubai Public Prosecutor. A tweet by ‘India in Dubai’ Twitter handle wrote, “Update: Dubai Police has handed over the Consulate and the family members letters for the release of the mortal remains of the Indian cinema icon Sridevi Boney Kapoor so that they can proceed for embalming.”

Now that the Dubai authorities have given a green-signal, Sridevi’s mortal remains would arrive today in Ambani’s private jet. A NOC has also been issued to Kapoor family and Indian Consulate. There are no details about the funeral from the family.

Dubai Public Prosecution has approved the release of the body of the Indian actress Sridevi to her family following the completion of a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of her death.

Dubai Public Prosecution stressed that all regular procedures followed in such cases have been completed. As per the forensic report, the death of the Indian actress occurred due to accidental drowning following loss of consciousness. The case has now been closed.

Dubai Police also gave a clean chit to Boney Kapoor and closed the case regarding Sridevi’s untimely and sudden demise.
