People Freak Out Over ‘Carrie’ Telekinesis Marketing Prank In NYC Coffee Shop

Unsuspecting customers at a New York coffee shop in the West Village freaked out when they witnessed a young woman used her “telekinetic” powers to move a guy up a wall after he spilled hot coffee on her computer. She yelled at the man in anger “Get away from me!” and thrust out her hand, which appeared to throw him against the wall. She also moved tables and chairs with her mind as she backed up and realized what happened. She then gave out a blood-curdling scream that made pictures and books from shelves fall down.

Surprised? What if we tell you, all this is absolutely an amazing and terrifying prank? Yes, this freaky prank was all part of a publicity stunt for the upcoming remake of the film “Carrie” starring Chloe Moretz. The prank is made to experiment for What if telekinesis was real? How would you react? But that doesn’t make it any less entertaining or awesome.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on Facebook and YouTube. It shows the set up at ‘Snice Coffee Shop in New York’s West Village using everything from fake walls, to hidden pulleys, to remote control tables and chairs, to even spring-loaded pictures and shelves full of books. The customers stopping by this cafe have no idea they’re about to witness a girl with telekinetic powers lose control after a stranger knocks over her drink. And by ‘stranger’ we of course mean ‘fellow actor,’ but the terrified patrons don’t know that they were all set up as part of a prank. The supernatural prank created some great reactions. The hidden camera captured the reactions of customers as they witness a telekinetic event.

The stunt was a branding technique by the video marketing company Thinkmodo. It was created to promote the upcoming remake of Stephen King’s 1974 novel Carrie, where a bullied teen uses her telekinetic powers to destroy her tormenters after they dump pig’s blood on her at prom. The film hits theaters October 18.
